Brazilian Fashion Designers NY Fall 2010

Alexandre Herchcovitch

Beautiful old-world silk prints became quilted motorcycle jackets.

Ornate rhinestone embroideries added a finishing touch
to tailored wool coats.
Fishnet tights.

Structured Coat Dress / Robe Manteau

Oversize metal studs painted to resemble wood
trimmed delicate blouses.
Smocked waist.
Crocheted pieces crafted from rubber, yarn,
black crystals, and gold chains.

A body-hugging black and red plaid pantsuit.

Studded booties covered in belt buckles added a splash of punk.

Swing skirt trimmed in synthetic fur.
Fake fur muff.
  A slashed black mesh top
that felt too warrior-woman for the classic-punk mash-up.
Printed bandannas, wood-chain headpieces, and bell necklaces.

One-shoulder, strapless, body-con dresses
in geometric slices of fuchsia,

red and violet, banded with sequins.

Electric-blue satin dress featured zigzags
of silver sequins, across the body.

Boleros constructed from loops of fabric and chains.

Feather-striped curve-hugging gowns in sinuous rainbow-bands
of red, blue, green and yellow.

Paper-bagged pants made in a new Bio Denim,
treated with Brazilian fruit butter.

Full-sleeved fitted dress cinched with a satin corset-belt.

The delicate work of human hands in the signature rosettes.

like fallen nuts repurposed as buttons.
