Paris Fall 2010

Chanel
by Karl Lagerfeld
All the fur that snuggled over shoulders,
was puffed into bulbous sleeves,
edged hemlines or appeared on yeti boots
was fabulously fake.

The hit-of-the-season,
a vest over the classic tweed jacket.

Fake-fur-trimmed tweeds.

Fur formed deep pelmets
on the lower half of leather jackets.
Thick fur chaps.

Two-tone shoes, covered with plastic galoshes.
The signature quilted bag
buried in a patchwork of fur.

Chloé

A long-sleeved silk blouse
and high-waist flared trousers.
The definitive trouser shape of the season.

Menswear for women, in shades of brown,
from camel to butterscotch.
A hooded wrap coat in cashmere
over a ribbed turtleneck.

  Western styling
a pair of velvet, gold-embroidered jeans.

Simple shifts, cut loosely around the body.

Dries Van Noten
’50s hourglass coats
A full-skirted trench coat in olive drab.

A sleeveless double-breasted tweed dress
with leopard-print edging the neckline.
A full-skirted shirtwaister in military fabric
with a small turn-down collar.

A sloppy khaki knit over a slim,
magenta printed skirt
dragging a romantic train.
A sweatshirt-material top
over a rich brocade dirndl.
